Favorite Strings to Match a Jag?

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to figure out what strings will best match my new 08 Jaguar with 2 single coils. I like to play through a Boss Blues Driver Pedal into a little Fender Champion 600 all tube amplifier - I love the warm overdrive sound. I just like to play a lot of Classic Rock and some Blues as well. I really like to bend notes so I don't want any stiff strings.

I believe I'll probably stick with a 10 gauge but I'd like to hear the types of strings everyone else out there prefers...

i dont have a jag yet but D'addarios are great strings 😁

I'm a pretty strong guy, so doing bends with a set of 12s is no big deal. Not sure that helps at all... 😆

I can highly recommend Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys. That's what I use on my Mustang. Yeah they play really well on the Mustang

keep in mind that its a 24" scale. i find bending 11's on a 24 easier than 10s on a 25.5... i use d'addarios.

i'm a no-brander, but if forced i would say Rotosounds. Anyway gauge is the important thing for me and currently work at a custom 11-50 range (i find regular 11s have too light a bass string for my heavy-handedness).

11s -->12s-->13s 😀 EB, Rotosound, D'Addario, Fender...

10s sounds lousy on Jag/Jazz, not to mention 9s...

Right now I have on Dean Markley "Blue Steel" strings (Lights)

They are kind of slinky feeling, but sound decent.

Not sure I would recommend them though as they don't handle my rough playing style to well.

Honestly I really haven't used anything better than the Fender Bullets.

I like those a lot.

Your just going to have to experiment and see what fits your style.

I have had the jag for only 6 months, but i realised that the strings choice is an important thing.. It came with some light ones, and i changed them fora more heavy gauge. I tried d'addario xl and i didn't like them. Now using Dean markley nickelsteel (mthb 11-52), and they fit much better my jaguar.

I use Dean Markley Blue Steel Mediums 11-52.

When I tried flat-wounds I didn't like 'em. My 'style' is jangley. Flat-wounds are not jangley.

I tried DR, Fender Super Bullet, Diadario, Ernie Ball Slinky

I guess string choice is a completely personal choice. I disliked DR and Diadario. I really like the Super Bullets but they got rusty too quickly so I think I'm an Ernie Ball Slinky man. They feel good on the fingers, last a while longer, bend predictably / smoothly and sound good. If I was richer I'd probably use Super Bullets.

Very great strings I might add....

Ernies seem to go "flat" within hours in my opinion and expirience.

Been using D'addario's for yearzzzzzz....

I've been running the ubiquitous Earnie Ball 009-045 gauge strings lately, pink label. I think they are called power slinkys.

I just figured out a way to eek the last bit of buzzless stability out of the Reissue CIJ/MIJ guitar bridges, and that's this. Put stronger (ie. longer/stiffer) springs on the low and high e action screws, and replace the bass side one with a shorter screw out of some other kind of bridge. That's what I did, I can now hammer on my Jaguar like a friggin jackhammer and that string is staying in tune and not going anywhere, but surprisingly, I did not lose my Jaguar sound in the process.

I dont own a jag but I own many other fenders and I pretty much only use ddarios....For me, they keep the tone a long time and they play nicely. I havent tried some of the other string mentioned but I play alot of classic rock and blues so the ddarios do the job well for me especially on my 72 tele with flalin humbuckers.
