SX SST Neck to Duo Sonic MIM body???

So I have a 1996 MIM Duo Sonic that I bought new in 96 that was lost to my younger brother & his stupidity years ago. Recently however I found it in my older bros basement ready to be thrown away *gasp*!!! So I took it back & now its sitting completely taken apart ready for whatever weird mods I may choose to do to/with it.

The only thing I know for sure is that the super short scale neck that it has now will NOT work for me, it was great when I was younger but its too small now. I want to put a 24 scale neck on it but can't get myself to spend a lot on a warmoth or used stang/jag/jag-stang neck. My question is:

Will a short scale SX neck from Rando Music fit? Has anyone actually attempted this? Also will the short scale SX SST (fake strat) body take my mim duo neck?

I know there will be intination issues w/ my duo but I'm considering putting a top loading strat style bridge on it anyway just cause I really like them so what I'm trying to figure out is just if the neck pockets are compatable.

I have a buddy who wants to buy his kids an electric & would trade me the SX 24" neck for my duo 22.7. Is this a good trade? I can't find values on my duos neck anywhere so I'm not sure.

Also if you have any mod ideas for me I'd love to hear them. Currebtly I'm thinking "broncoish" w/ a JB I'm the bridge & nothing but a volume nob. Any other ideas will be welcomed.

I have no clue about the SX SST, but the Duo is worth about $150 in great condition. As for the Duo neck on the strat, you'll have to move the bridge at least 1/4" forward to intonate, which will leave a gap behind the bridge. I say give the kid the duo and do something else.

I don't understand...if I use a 24" neck & a bridge from a squire '51, which is a top loader strat style bridge, why would it not intonate? The old duos have a 24" neck & the same bridge as the reissue so why would it not intonate? I'm new to the neck swapping so if it won't work I'd much rather not waste my time just wondering the reason.

I just reread your reply, you were saying the strat won't take to duo neck...sorry I read it backwards....I'm not so much with the being smart... 😀

youll need to find the specs on the SX neck, and also make sure its a decent neck

Yeah that's what I was hoping someone might know. Rondo doesn't have the neck pocket size on their site anywhere.

As for the quality of the neck...its not going to be anything great but I've played a few SXs & their not bad. Better then many Squiers I've played, tho they're getting better. I figured it would be a good neck to use tell I can get a fender/warmoth in the future. Right now cash is tight but I REALLY want to get started on this project so I figured this might be a way to get the ball rolling.

Do you have any guesses as to a far price for my MIM Duo neck in US $?

I bought mine on the island of Guam 12+ years ago & its been played pretty heavy sense by me & my little bro so the frets are warn but still has life left.

I'd be willing to trade it to anyone for any decent 24 or even 25.5 neck

hmmmm..... Silvertone mahogany/rosewood trade? its not straight as an arrow but it does not fret out at all, and didnt even with the low action it came with. its from the 60's, good condition. no bows, slight curves, but like i said, they dont affect playability. a few frets popping slightly, nothing major. a fret hammer would problably take care of that... im pretty sure its 25.5 from feel, havent measured. interested? not committing, just wondering...
