With the proper setup, you don't need to block the trem. As for the setup itself, let's see...
1. Be sure you have 9s or 10s, otherwise, you will prolly need to recut your nut to allow the larger strings to pass without any friction. 11s will most likely be ok.
2. I seriously doubt your truss needs adjusting, but if it does, do not tighten or loosen any more than an 1/8th of a turn. With the geetar fully tuned, eyeball the straightness of the fretboard, by looking lengthwise from the bridge. You should have a slight bend upwards, and by "slight," I mean, it should look almost perfectly straight.
3. Bridge height: lower the bridge all the way. Then raise 1/4 or 1/2 turn at a time, until your strings stop fretting out.
4. The pups should be no closer than 1/8" of an inch from the high E string and no closer than 3/16" from the low e string.
5. Intonation: tune the geetar. Fret each string at the 12th fret. Adjust the bridge screws until you get it right. Be sure to retune with EACH AND EVERY ADJUSTMENT.
