G&L re-issue their Mustang

hugh, how much was it? what did it sound & feel like?

(you know your way w/ indie guitars, man . . . how old were you exactly?)

I may have been about 12? I can't quite remember, as I wasn't really a guitar player (bassists FTW), however, I was instantly attracted to it because I could actually hold it comfortably... It was super nice, I remember kicking up the gain on the amp and annoying everybody in the room (not a big shop). I kicked off some Sonic Youth ####, then played the G&L SB-2 and L2000. It was expensive, a) because it was a G&L and 😎 because it was a vintage instrument. The Devo concert was this summer, at Festival Pier in Philly.

wellwell, G&L have not made a lot of good decisions (on a design level, the level of craftmanship surely is great, AFAIK) in the last couple years, before they decided to go for this re-issue a few weeks ago. otherwise it

Yeah, but G&L try to be creative (rather than smearing new instruments with poop and hitting them with a belt sander) by offering custom finishes, electronics, and hardware. Along with that, many of their guitar designs, while similar to Fender products, are super-unique... Look at the Strat-based Comanche...
