most people will advise against it, as the jag/jazz problems can be solved with a proper setup and heavy strings, no less than 11s usually. but it is up to you and your style of playing.

on all of the jags/jazzys i have played only the jaguar special hh jumped its saddles and that has a TOM bridge

Yeah, most people dont care for it, though some of that is down to its looks i think.

Some swear by them though, Johnny Marr uses one. I used one for a while because i fitted a humbucker and the third bridge harmonics became annoyingly loud, the buzz stop tamed that down by shortening the length of string vibration behind the bridge.

If you can pick one up cheap id try it but i wouldnt pay $30 or whatever they are.

i put a gfs powerrails on a TOM guitar, and sometimes get feedback from the strings behind the bridge 😆

I fitted a Buzz-Stop AFTER fitting Mustang saddles, which got rid of the buzz and string 'slide' on the saddles anyway... I just wanted an extra bit of chrome!!!

But I will say, that I found it has increased the tension on the strings and allows you to do large string bends (I still use 9's on the top E), without the string snapping at the bridge. I have also found that the extra tension also gives more sustain.

So I would buy it for the above reasons but not for it's main purpose, which is to eliminate buzz... (If you can't eliminate buzz & string slide by setting up, I would personally recommend Mustang bridge/saddles instead.)

I got one for my jag and it did indeed solve some problems with string jumping (think I was using .10s, though) and likewise eliminated behind-bridge string rattle, which can be a problem. The buzzstop did make it harder to adjust the bridge though, due to the increased tension. so if you can everything set up right, and don't mind the look of it, or the increased tension....then maybe it is a good deal. Kind of a tradeoff I guess.

I personally found the tension increase a bonus!!! (Possibly due to the style I play... fairly slow, Gilmour-ish ) - I couldn't stop the saddle slide by trying different means of set-up, which is why I went for the Mustang saddle option... I am using a stock CIJ with SD-JAG3's. A friend of mine (a professional musican of over 20 years, who has played in a charting bands inthe UK) has pointed out the Fender are notorious for building 'stock' instruments, that can 'feel' and play completely differently to the next instrument off the production line. After several modifications (cosmetic & enhancements), I think I have now the guitar I have always wanted. Fortunately, I had some money at the time I bought my Jag, to experiment with using diffrent mods...

Interestingly enough, when I re-strung my jag I mounted the buzzstop backwards, and it gave just enough increased tension to keep the strings in the saddles without making the string angle behind the bridge too sharp or causing string binding. I recommend it. The only problem is that the groove isn't cut right for the tremlock to work when the buzzstop is mounted backwards, but as I don't use it anyways it wasn't an issue.
