POTS!

So, feel free to tell me I'm retarded, but I am building my first mustang and the control plate I bought from allparts does not fit normal sized 250k pots.

Does this mean I have to buy mini pots? The rest of the construction of the guitar was a breeze until I realized that the threads on the pots weren't going to fit through the control plate which causes another delay in the building process.

So... mini pots?

mini pots are only smaller underneath the p/guard, i thought

ive never heard of people not being able to fit the twisty bit throught the hole in the p/guard/control plate of the guitar

could you not just file the plate a bit or is the difference too great?

I run into that problem all the time. All you need to do is drill them out to fit.

That's why I was asking, I didn't know if mini pots were just smaller at the actual pot and not at the threading...I don't know any technical terms.

Are there no pots with narrower threads?

the threading is quite a bit larger in diameter than the hole in the control plate.

Im sure i used mini alpha pots to get around the drilling on my JS build.

I fitted DiMarzio pots on my original JS and drilling out the holes bigger was a pain in the ass tbh.

I recently tried and regular CTS 250k's don't fit. As Aug said, drill the plate. If you're nervous get your local guitar tech to do it. Should cost you
