hello, i am a member for a few years now, but i dont correspond that much. now i need your help, cause the guys from shortscales are d**kheads and for some reason the hate jag-stangs.

i guess you people are the best to help me. i have a terrible decission to make. i bought a nice red tort guard from a offsets forum member, but i happened to have 2 jag-stangs (red 96 original, blue 03 reissue with upgraded pickups) and i cant decide which one will get the tort.

first i was decided for the sonic blue/red tort lovely combo, but than i thought, what about a roseland jag-stang? (for those newbs that dont know - there was once a beautiful fiesta red mustang with red tort, which kurt cocaine used on a Roseland gig, that guitar is now known as the roseland stang..) and i tried it and it looks awesome. now i just dont know what to do. please help and vote 😛

please note that the guard is not fitting perfectly (it is from a mustang reissue), so i havent applied the screws.. it is just left over the white pickguard.

thats two lovely 'stangs, BTW!

a lot has been thought & written in the past five-hundred years about body-to-pickguard color relations. basically, there are two schools of thought, the school of contrast, and the school of correlation. i am a disciple of the latter, that firmly holds the belief, that the color range encompassed by the pickguard should be found somewhere in the colors of the body/neck as well, so of course tortoise must go with fiesta red (red tort preferred). just as sunburst goes with gold anodyzed, or brown tortoise. and cream pearl goes with maple necks. do it!

i agree with ddowner, i like the red tort on the sonic blue. looks great! the roseland looks awesome too.

I like red on red, although my personal choice would be mint green on red. Blue and red tort is too kruDtz.

I like this post and it got me thinking...

I go both ways with the colour vs correaltion thing, but I think it depends on the base colour. White/white = yes... black/black = not so much. Generally, I like white (especially pearloid) or red tort pickguards.

I'm gonna start a post about this very subject...

a little bit, the sonic one is my preffered guitar so i think the tort will go on it.

no offence or disrespect to ya, fran, but im gonna call shananigans on that one if i may.. 😉

i mean.. kust used both schemes ..and while he IS more noted for the blue with red tort, one COULD argue that it comes stock that way.. i dont think stock schemes can really be attributed to anyone, even if it was an obvious preference.. as for mine, i prefer the red on red as well..

Seriously, the blue/tort can be stock so the red/tort will rock!!!

To be honest I LOVE blue tort & was thinking I would vote for it originally but when I saw the pics of red/tort it was love at first sight! It just defies my logic & looks killer!!!

That was pretty good. I understood that it was "Go red", but I read it as "gored" because it was funnier that way. I thought of the running of the bulls.

But, anyway...I'd go red/red.

Normally, I would say contrast it, but I don't like the way it looks on the blue one too much, so red/red is lesser of two evils.

That being said, the guitars look amazing, bro.

What kind of pickups did you upgrade with?
