Jaguar HH with Phat Cat pups

Hi,

I'm putting phat cat pups in a jaguar HH. Problem is, it's a single conductor wire with shielding that needs to be soldered to a ground point. Does anyone have any idea where to solder the shielded wire on a jaguar (both bridge and rhythm sections)? Seymour Duncan site says to solder them to the back of the volume pots but their not anywhere near the switching sections that the wire needs to be soldered to. PLEASE HELP!!! 😕😕😕

The grounding system is all connected, like mains power in a house. So any grounding point will do it as long as it is in the chain of connection.

If you look on the back of the Jaguar switch plates there is a ground point on both of them (where your original pup is grounded). Just copy that, you should be fine, i've fitted allsorts in my Jags and always used them points.

Awesome, but can't get the bridge pickup working that way. Maybe the shielding is touching another wire or post. I'll try again after work today!

One last dumb question, with humbuckers its obvious which way the pickup is suppossed to face because of the front screws, is there a particular way the Phat cat's should be facing or does it even matter because they're single coil?

Yeah recheck your soldering and the ground wire.

Not sure on the Phat Cats, i dont think it matters.

i believe phat cats are symmetrical. when i put new wpickups in, i cut the old pickup lead in half so i didnt have to deal with all that crap

It was a bit of a pain to get the shielding soldered to the ground in a tight spot but I finally got them working. The Phat cats sound GREAT in the jag.
