yeah, but why not jaguar body/scale w/ jazzy pups? (i.e.: a shortscale jazzmaster)
if you plan to go for a custom/warmoth, i'd do just that: it's the bestest scale with the bestest (neck) pickup. it might not sound *exactly* like a jazzmaster simply due to the shorter scale, but that should be tolerable.
at least that's the guitar i'm considering, should i ever go for a custom build. another option would be a jazz pu in the neck and a wide range in the bridge, so you end up with a 50% thurston / 50% lee-jagblaster . . .
(there are one or two small pickup-manufacturers out there that offer a jazz-like pu under a humbucker-size nickel cover, one might as well do that to end up w/ sth both consistently good-looking and versatile . . .)
