Antiquity for Jaguar

Hello, I know there's a lot of threads relating to Jaguar pickups but I just have a couple of questions for people using SD Antiquities. .What made you choose between A1 and A2? And how do they compare to other Jaguar pickups you have used?

Thankyou. Id already looked at that thread but a lot of it seemed a bit speculative, not many people had first hand experience of the Antiquities, particularly the A1 pickups. I suppose most people must use AVRI or SJAGS.

Correct me if i am wrong but the Antiquities are the most expensive replacement, so i think unless you want to replicate the true vintage Jaguar sound the extra expense is not worth it, most people buy the other models. I think they are aimed at players replacing damaged/broken vintage pups.

In my experience i would say the true vintage pups are my favourate, on clean settings. But once you start using processors the differences are negligable.

I would go with Curtis Novak's pickups if you are trying to recreate that tone. Handwound, and around 90 shipped. But, I haven't tried antiquities, so 😐

Novak's are probably better but it would be expensive to have them shipped to Europe. Are the SJAG's significantly better than CIJ's? Antiquities only cost slightly more and the A1's are supposed to have a darker tone, which I thought might be quite interesting.

Its arguable that the Novaks will be better, Seymour Duncan are pretty much awesome at the end of the day.

Anything will be better than the CIJ pups in truth. If its anything to go by, true vintage Jag pups are quite mellow with a more rounded treble response. They seem to handle high gain better than say the CIJ pups or the Vintage hot. If the antiquities replicate this (?) i would go that bit extra on cash for them.

A lot of it is trial and error dude. I've spent hundreds of pounds changing Jaguars over the years, you may get lucky with your first choice. What kind of music do you play in what enviroment?
