Look under the pickguard, It's probably sonic blue under there and that means that the paint on the rest of the body is aged. If it is still surf green under the pickguard then you have a very rare jag-stang, or it's a refinish.

i already did...it's the same colour, surf green.

I'm sure there's a batch that went wrong though, cos other people on the net have talked about having green jagstangs too!

also what strings did you get it set up with?? I'm still unsure whether to go heavier (11s) so it'll be better for lead, or lighter (9s) to increase jangle.

i swear the mustang bridge does something WEIRD to the string tension..cos my 24" scale jagmaster is completely unplayable with anything under 11s, feels too loose. but this one feels way tighter - maybe too tense!

But then my 22.5" scale duosonic feels fine with 10's...so i dunno..

I've had 10's on mine since I got it in 1997 and it's always been great.

well...for $168 I got a new bone nut, Gotoh locking tuners (which I since given away) new strings (11's) and all the adjustments...truss rod, bridge, blah, blah, blah...

my nut was binding, so that's why I got the bone, the locking tuners were a last minute addition cause I got aggravated with the old tuners...

but, the 11's...anything less on a 24" is just sthilly!!!
