Is this a MUSTANG MIJ? Please help

Hi guys,

Just wanna know if this Fender Mustang with serial number V029796 made in Japan? It says on the neck 'Crafted in Japan.' But when I looked up Fender Serialization on the net, there is no serial number starting with letter "v" that has "Crafted in Japan" printed on the neck.

Please help. Thanks and good day to all of you.

Well if it says 'Crafted in Japan' it was probably Crafted in Japan. I think there has been some confusion before with this... But does it really matter whether it's 'Crafted' of 'Made'? So long as it's a nice guitar (it's bound to be, it's a Mustang after all 😉 ) I'd just be happy with it 😀

thanks for the reply. i really need to know if it's authentic japanese made so when i sell it i'll price it fairly.

If you're looking for a date, take the neck off, there should be a stamp just below the truss rod screw and and identical stamp in the neck pocket 😉

there won't be a stamp their if it's not vintage thats why there are serial numbers on the bottom of the neck.

This guitar states 'Crafted in Japan' with serial number V029796 on the neck. Now, please visit this site: http://www.superiormusic.com/page200.htm. Can you please tell me what year this guitar falls into?

Well of course it's 'authentic Japanese'. All 'Crafted in Japan' and 'Made in Japan' models are actually japanese. There are no counterfeit Jap Mustangs out there (that I know of)

I see what you are trying to say. It is a V serial with Crafted written on it. My best guess would be that it was made in 1997. In the switch over. That is... V+6 =1996 - 1997 and Crafted started in 1997. Although they say it started with the A serials I guess they just started in 1997 . Yet there is no explanation of this from fender. We all know it was actually made in built in Japan. Lets hope they don't start printing that. lol

I just purchased a left handed mustang from japan. Going by the serial number website my guitar was made in 1994-95! Is that possible that i bought a brand new guitar thats 15yrs old?

Thanks mate, it needs setting up, their is some fret noise and buzz coming from the bridge somewhere but it sure is fun to play.
