Well here, and many other places i'm sure, use those big-ass tubes from the inside of tractor tires; blow 'em up and ride 'em. I haven't really done it alot, a few times, but it is rather fun. Sleds are far better though because they are easier to stear. tubes are faster.

its got three knobs. only two of which affect the actual tone (if youre playing through a #### solid state w/out dirt). if you need a chart for this, you should kill yourself immediatly.

I was always under the impression that Cobain was VERY opposed to overdubbing.

Not sure where I heard it, but I know I did...

I dont mean to offend the OP by going "off topic" (like he himselfdid when he started talking about amps, go figure), but I bought a used ds-1 today for AUD $50. It was so good when I was testing it (using a black-stringed MIM strat and a Laney mega-something amp).

What I loved about it was that the higher I crancked the settings, the better it sounded. I never would have thought that distortion would be the first pedal I would own, but when I saw the price then tested it I just couldn't pass it up.

I'm gonna have a lot of fun with it. I have a feeling it's going to sound dynamite with the bridge pickup on my 51 😀

Partly that, but I also heard that they used technical problems as excuses.

american distortion is fat and dynamic and singing; british distortion (ie marshall) is piercing, weak, and lacks any singing or vocal character, its just crunch crunch crunch and thats all it can do. (which american (ie fender/boogie) does fine at anyway, and mesa can outcrunch any marshall) boogie owns orange/marshal dirty and clean, fender owns all clean.

I dont like Bluesbreakers or AC30's actually, I own a Marshall but in general most new marshalls don't do much for me tonally. I've heard hundreds of Mesas and they lack all character if theirs ever been a more generic sounding amp then a Mesa Boogie...Fender has great cleans and nice overdrive, there good solid amps nobodies debating that. Marshall is all crunch and I doubt anyone buys a Marshall for the clean tones, look at Marshall preamps and they have like 100 channels 98 of which are distortions 😆

As far as Orange I think they have a phenomenal clean channel, I own a Fender and the Orange stacks up just as well with the Fenders clean its full and round has plenty of power and with a little reverb is sweet as can be. Orange crunch is also great and can keep up the pace with a boogie just fine if you have the right player and I've seen a few local bands ditch there Mesa's for Oranges. In the end amps are 100% personal preference I've met people who cannot stand the bright chiming clean of fender amps, and some people who hate the low end crunch of Mesas or the distinctive crunch of a Marshall, its all about what you want as player but in the hands of the right player I think any amp can do pretty much anything.

The only Marshalls I like are really old Marshall amps, why? Because they sound more American.

Jim Marshall stole the Fender Bassman circuit to build the praised Plexi's and JTM45. All his amps throughout the 60s were just modified Fender circuits, and these are still the Marshall amps that are most desireable. Anyone who says Fender cant do crunch like Marshall needs to check out any Tweed era Fender and have a listen.

And anyone who says Marshall cant do cleans should try out a Marshall Club & Country combo, does a great 60s Blackface Twin Reverb tone (but once again Jim Marshall just copies a Fender Circuit). This was SRV's clean tone for the majority of his career, his drive tone actually came from two cranked blackface Fender Vibratones, with his clean tone being predominantly his Marshall Club and Country! Go figure.
