Also check out music stores out in the boonies. I say this because today I went on the Official Fender Website and clicked the "Find a dealer" link and searched for dealers here in Michigan.
I tried the closest places to me, all of which had nothing to offer. Then I started looking for hick towns (no offense intended to anyone out there!). I figured a guitar that looks like the Jag-Stang does may be quickly passed by those into Country guitar styles.
By god I was right! I found a re-issue Jag-Stang...still brand new. The store owner said it's been sitting around for about 2 years or so on one of the top hooks of his store. When he had ordered it he thought that he couldn't go wrong with a Fender, let alone one that was popular enought to be re-issued.
So I made a phone call to my cousin who also plays guitar to go to the store to check it out....It saved me from making the two-hour trek myself! He said it was in new condition and played like a dream.
So try that out too! Maybe you'll get just as lucky.
