Big Muff...

So I picked up a behringer vd1 (read, really cheap/bad copy of a big muff) pedal at a pawn shop for like $10 about a month ago & while I do like it as a cheap fuzz pedal but the pots are starting to get really loose & crackle even after I cleaned & tightened them. This has me thinking that its not going to last much longer. It's metal case is surprisingly good quality for such a cheap pedal which made me wonder...

Do you guys know of a website where you can buy the guts to big muff? Or a good/cheap fuzz type pedal in a plastic case that I could put into this case?

you could always etch a PCB and make your own muff clone to stuff in there

Why not just get a Big Muff? They're not that expensive and it'll last ya as long as you like 😎

Funny thing is Pete that I never really wanted a big muff tell I heard you talk about them on here so much. Then I saw this thing at a pawn shop a figured I'd give it a try. After reading reviews I guess they are very hit or miss but I got a pretty decent on so now its got me wanting a real big muff.

I was thinking of turning this thing into a eq tho as its a pedal I actually need w/ my new amp. Any ideas of how to build one from scratch anybody??!?

if it's a decent copy of the big muff, you can make a few mods to it and turn it into a 3 band easily. i'll give you links + more info if you're interested; pretty tired at the moment

I'll let you know after I get the ad5 if I'm going to need the eq. It only has a tone knob so I'm thinking it may need an eq.

This pedal only 3 knobs & I know all the eq I've seen have a volume, do I have to have one?

no, its definitely not a necessity - you would need to set the volume with either a trim-pot or a resister though, resistor = constant, non-adjustable; trim-pot = internally adjustable, meant for tweaking, but kept inside the box, not meant to be adjusted every time you plug in
