New member with questions

Hey everyone. Im new here, long time musician...been playing fenders for years but never owned a jag which is why im here. Im in the market to buy a new jaguar...ive been doing alot of research and reading up on alot of posts in this forum so I think I know what I want, the question is if its a good deal or now.

Ive seen another one of the kurt cobain-ish style jags up for sale again....only its slightly different...this one only has one tone knob and one volume knob and no gibson style toggle switch which confuses me because I know its a japanese 62 reissue but is this just another variation the japanese put out? Other than that it seems legit...

It has the ring bindings and it seems to have dimarizio pickups which is mainly why I want this guitar...something with humbuckers.

The guy ideally wants 1300 for it and I dont know if thats a good deal or not since I can find little to no information on these guitars.....Im guessing I could probably talk him down but it seems to me that 1300 seems a little overpriced.

How much would you guys pay for said used guitar....The only problems according to him is just minor dings and scratches...everything else is in good condition according to seller. Thanks

Pfff, I dunno. Just get a FCPJ and put a DMSDP in it and a SDJB and you'll be AOK.

Yeah I thought about that but I seem to find the classic players for around 1100 so if I bought pickups as well id probably be spending about the same price.

I dont want to sound like cobain...I just like the setup...I play basically 70's pycadelic rock.

Right now I have a 72 tele custom with fralin gibson style high output humbuckers running through a rivera clubster amp.

What did you mean by EMG?

1300 what? Euros?

Basically it sounds like a modified CIJ Jaguar to me. Nowhere near worth that money dude, you can do that work yourself with (at worst) a chisel and some basic soldering skills.

Surely you can buy a new MIM Jag or Jap HH for that money? Or a second hand CIJ standard. Look for a cheap second hand CIJ then fit DiMarzios yourself, it will cost you

And by EMG I mean the company that is known for making active pickups, very good ones. I'd actually suggest something passive for psycodelic 70s music. Jazz pickups or something splittable or just a stock jag 😁

Yeah I have gone that route but my band is tyign to have more modern over tones than just simply copying old 70's pych. Although I do love the stock jag sound as well....We def play heavier but not metal.

Ah and EMG, that makes sense now....I wasnt thinking clearly....I have considered those but I was always worried I would lose a fat warm sound with those. I guess it all depends.
