Jag-Stang Discontinued

Well at the end of this month the jagstang will no longer be made. Again. Ishibashi is taking advance orders I believe until the 30th. Supposedley the contract has run out.

I believe the jagstang was originally discontinued in April as well?

Might wanna make this a sticky for any newbies.

as far as i can gather, this is how production has gone, so far:

[*:28knt6x2]1994: jag-stang starts production
[*:28knt6x2]1998: production continues, but stops being exported outside of japan
[*:28knt6x2]2001: production stops altogether
[*:28knt6x2]2003: productions starts again
[*:28knt6x2]2004: production continues, but stops being exported outside of japan again (or was it early '05?)
[*:28knt6x2]2006: production stops altogether again

Maybe Fender will export the Comp Mustang's again this Summer to coincide with the release of the SLTS action figure.😉😁🚬

The Jagstang has now been removed from Ishibashi's web-site. I guess that's it then.

I hope they don't reissue them again, and they become really sought after. I've managed to keep mine utterly mint, despite having gigged it a few times etc 😀 However, I probably wouldn't sell it anyway even if the value did rise considerably, which probably won't happen anyway 🙄

I'd say it will definately become a much sought after guitar. But not for a long time. It'd really just be a collectors guitar. Further down the line when most jagstangs have locked down the tail piece and modded it - the ones that were kept without change will be the valuable ones.

Hence why I'm keeping the one I got just a couple of weeks ago perfectly mint. When I have a chance to save up money I'll buy a knock about js that I can mod to hell and not worry about denting because I'll have that mint one stored away.

But it's going to be quite a few years before we see any real increase in value. I really don't see them re-issueing it again.

I dunno, I'm not even worried about the value of Jag-Stangs, the one I own is stying with me till I die, EMGs and all (tho it'd be pretty easy to return it to stock. Besides, one is all I need, if I want another I can always buy a Warmoth neck, trace the existing body, and make a copy of it easy.

Better to enjoy it either way and worry about that down the road. I have to think that someday people are going to want it either as an oddity, or because its parents are both cool guitars. I am glad it had some production time though, so there might always be parts--you don't see too many Bronco bridges around.

I have a SB '94 and althogh not my favorite guitar, i have owned it 12+ years and i could never get rid of it. Where i live i have only seen 2 JagStangs in person, mine and my brothers '03 fiesta red one he ordered. There pretty good guitars, but i much would rather play my Mustangs.

I'm guessing it'll go out of production for awhile, then either something will make Nirvana retro, or some famous person will make it popular again, and then Fender will produce another one. That's always what happens.
