Floyd question

Hey, does anybody know if you can have a floyd with a normal nut and do drop tunings without screwing the whole thing up?

I also heard of floyds that have this thing built in

yeah the standard nut would work fine, although if you got wild of course it may go out of tune

and they do make floyd rose with a drop d function, its just a little mechanism that when unhooked relieves tension on the E string and puts it in D

i attempted just now to play my jackson without the locking nut. . . dont do it. . . .

if your asking if you can go from standard to like drop c in an instant. . . no you can't. will explain why tomorrow if no one else tells u

Well yeah, if you play a guitar which has a locking nut without the locking part, it won't work because your nut is sharp and causes friction but my nut is silky smooth because it has graphite in the slot

its probably not a problem with the d-tuner, but if you try to tune down one string, the other strings will go sharp to reach equilibrium with the springs in the trem.

Yes but wouldn't the same happen with a d tuner?? And it is so unnoticeable.

And BTW, this thread is for my jagstang......YES I'M PUTTING A FLOYD ON A JAGSTANG AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU CAN GO AND JUMP OFF A CLIFF!

I just find that the cheap metal on the trem plate is wearing away so fast and there is no sort of knife edge in there or even round, just shredded due to loads of tension everywhere.

when you drop d with a gutiar with a floyd rose there is a hugeee change in the pitch of the other strings

d-tunas work because the locking nut stops them for goin sharp. . im sure a quick google would tell you how they work

Also it needs to be routed for upbends and that would look horrible

as i said i don't know what it is, but that fact is it wouldn't work, get a d-tuna and a locking nut

d-tunas do actualy work. . . . .
