By the way, anybody got an opinion on putting the Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge, not super distortion? Oh, and I showed a friend of mine my guitar today, and he said the pickups would be wider than the space I have right now. Is that right? It's just a basic jaguar HH, like the black ones.

Yeah, but we made it clear that the same paf kurt used vs a gfs paf without the rest of kurt's equipment will sound completely different.

I don't know why people think that such similar pickups actually have a real difference to them soundwise. Just go for a dimarzio evolution neck

I'm probably not gonna go with the PAF, but I'm just curious. Through the crappy amp I'm playing it through, everything sounds the same anyway. I just wanna know what he used. Hey, if i wanted a kurt cobain guitar clone, I'd have gotten one from japan (or ebay), then sanded the finish down in some places to make it look aged...

yes but the tele ruled all, i'm glad you feel that you can come to us with questions but these have been asked countless times. and you will be written off as another one of the kurt wanabees if you drop in just to ask about his gear and then never show again. it happens constantly.

Ok, I'm not gonna lie to you guys, I am a Nirvana fan, but this really isn't about getting a perfect Kurt Cobain replica. I don't have the time (or the money) right now to do that, but some similarities would be cool. And, for the record, I wanted a jaguar about 30 minutes before I knew Kurt Cobain had one. I was checking out the guitars fender has (I'm actually a bass player, decided to pick up the guitar as well), and really liked the Jaguar, because it had so many switches, which in my eyes were so many tonal possibilities (after a pickup change, I knew I wouldnt like so much treble), it also had a tremolo and it was short scale (small hands 😛). So basically, it was very versatile in my eyes. Only when I went to the wikipedia page did I see that John Frusciante and Kurt Cobain had one. I went with the HH one, though, because it was cheap (second hand), so I missed out on the tremolo.

well "Teh Kurtz" is just a little joke about all the cobainer kids that come sticking there noses around here, i dont think anyone else calls him that 😆

but i understand your feelings. i am a nirvana fan as well, i could be charged with a little bit of Teh Kurtz myself because of my mustang with JB in the bridge and a tune-o-matic. which is almost exactly how his were set up. and i admittedly did do this mod after i saw and heard how his mustangs sounded, so i can level with you on that. i wasnt out to recreate his sound, just to take his example of what the guitar could do with the right features. and although i rarely play or listen to nirvana these days the guitar has been my number one and i love all of the tones i get from it because of the mods, it's very well rounded. and to be fair yes a lot of people do come here with cobain on their minds, but we here can also be a bit narrow minded when it comes to it. it just happens so frequently that it can get annoying. so to get back on topic i think your best bet would be to take his mods into consideration but also to listen to as many sound demos you can find on the internet and have an open mind about it, and in the end if you settle on his choices then you will have a well balanced guitar, and if you end up finding you like something that is not necessarily his sound then more power to you, its all just about making it your own. end rant.

well basically what I'm looking for is something that will give me a bit more powerful low-end. These dragsters have got a bit too much treble for me, and if later on I want treble anyway, I'll just use the bass-cut.

Would switching out the pots make a big difference? Don't really understand what the difference would be. I'm not sure what resistance pots I've got in here anyway, I'll have to check that out.

why don't you take it to a shop and let them do the job.

for 60,- euro's you have a complete rewire done by a pro.

because I'd rather spend (probably a lot of) time learning the way the wiring works ( I can solder and I have a good understanding of physics, just don't know all the terms), and do it myself, saving the 60 euros which can then be put into something else 😁

well the solder part is the hardest.

the wiring is more logical thinking i geus.

i did the same mod.

but for me it was quite easy cause i cant solder propperly. 😉
