I'm trying to get the sound achieved by Billy Pumpkin in this song. Actually, I'm trying to 'approximate' it, because I don't have the equipment and ability to overdub myself 25,000 times.
I'm trying to find the sound using my ds-1, Drive amp, and Telecaster. The only thing I have figured out from the recording is that the guitar is on either bridge pickup, or an in-between position, so most likely 4 or 5 on a strat.
Any suggestions for pedal, guitar, and amp settings that might get me even remotely close? The main thing I'm having trouble with is getting it bassy enough. But it's possible that the bass is doubling the guitar on the recording.
