duo sonic ----> duo sonic II

i plan on turning a normal 90s or squier duo sonic into a duo sonic II (basically a mustang with a duo sonic bridge).

heres what ive thought i roughly need to do

- acquire a duo body

- fill/whatever the routes i now longer need

-route along side pickups where mustang switches are held

- get a mustang pickguard/control plate + knobs + switches

-fill in old screw holes from original pickguard as mustang one wont have same screw holes

-make and drill new holes and check pickgaurd fits

-solder/put electronics onto pickguard/make sure everything fits blah blah blah

-find neck (either duo sonic or mustang, depends on what i get)

- put it all together

possible modifications later on = change in tuners/ pickguard colour (think tort. shell) and pickups (maybe texas specials if not satisfied with stock)

i have some diagrams on my flow chart which i cant be arsed to do again 😛

what do u guys think? anything impossible/ things i need to reconisder?

any other ideas are welcome

realised. . because some duos have the bridge pickup straight. . a mustang pickguard wotn fit on ☹

and trim it to fit with a mustang control plate. . . would save re-doing some of the screws. . . . and then i wont have the mustang switches and it wont really be a duo sonic II anymore ☹

I have a 96 duo that I originally planned on doing the same thing with. After getting into it I realized I didn't want the stang switches so ended up dropping the whole idea. Right now I have a custom made pickguard with a sd hoteails in the bridge and no bridge pup or tone knob. As far as necks go I got a killer deal on a jagmaster neck off eBay and I personally love it.

Also I've been told the control plate and pickguard won't fit with the current routs on the mims. All and all tho these little duos are great guitars so whatever you choose to do with one it's a good project.

i would go for the cyclone 2 type switching.

but its probs way harder to put in (not that i would have any idea) but it looks BADASS imo.

You could prob do that with little rout. Some else here put jag switches on a duo so they could tell you for sure.

i've decided what im going to do is use a duo sonic pickguard but trim the bottom of it off and place a mustang control plate there instead. . . .. .

but i need a body first ☹
