How can u tell if it's an American or Japanese Jaguar?

How can u tell if the Jaguar is Japanese or American. Does it have made in USA on the american? also how can u tell if it is a 62 Vintage Jaguar?

You would probably look on the back of the neck near the heel or the headstock,

well i think that 68's USA's only have it stamped on the neck, like mcthingo said. looks like your going to have to take that neck off.

oh and if its a reissue it will have it at the back of the neck where it joins the body.

I don't mean to be negative, but I dearly hope you haven't bought this guitar already.

I'm pretty sure Fender were not making Jaguars in Japan in 1962, so that should be a self-answering question.

How can you tell if it's a vintage '62? Take off the neck and check the date stamp.

I'd suggest being careful about buying vintage guitars if you don't even know how to date them.

US models have a 'Mute', or a hole where the Mute has been removed. They use cloth wiring, the control plates are chrome (not stainless steel), they have matching headstocks (depending on color), etc..

He probably means 62 vintage reissue, which is what 80% of Jags are. But the US models are more exact.
