the other day i took 6 strings off my 12 string cause it plays better that way and needed to slack off the truss rod.

problem was it was totally stuck and i had to really wrench at it, to the point that my hands were shaking cause of the effort and had to pad them,

eventually there was a loud bang! and the truss rod shifted an 8th or so, had to do that twice and today i noticed theres a split in the fretboard underneath the low E running from 2nd to just past 3rd.

am i in trouble?

Erm.....ya

You are never supposed to force a truss rod.

They can often break, you should have had a tech look at it. But take it to one anyways

Yeah, that's no great anyway....

I don't think there's much you can do about something like that... But I'd get someone to look at it.

well, at least this provides a good reason to go see my tech, havent been there in a few months

yea, don't mess with truss rods when they don't wanna move. also, always slacken the strings, so there are no sudden movements. as for fixing it, i'd take it to the tech, he might wanna reglue it.
