Noiseless pickups

Hello,

i have posted 2 messages in the past about pickups and single coil buzz, humbuckers, etc.

Here's the deal: I like the versatility that single coils give me on my 1978 Mustang. I HATE THE BUZZ/HUM. Can't stand it.

I have tried shielding the pup cavaties, to absolutely no avail.

Has anyone installed noiseless pickups on their Mustang? What is the result?

I have heard that Lace Sensors reduce the hum, but also change the tone.

I have also heard of another brand, Kinman, that apparently eliminate the hum and keep the tone intact.

Any opinions, suggestions?

EMG pickups do as well. But they need batteries.

Did you put copper foil shielding on the back of the pickguard as well? Or just in the routes

Just the routes. would putting foil on the pickguard really make a difference?

Absolutely.

Make sure it covers the routes though, you don't want any leakage. Also, since you've got a 78 mustang, it could well be bad pickups. Remember that was the era that fender was really skimping out. But you need to put the foil in anyway

Not if you're doing sheilding, but changing pickups you would

Yeah maybe before I get pickups I should try this...again. I just recently removed all the copper tape because it made no difference. It actually seemed to cause more feedback than before.

Have you shielded and got good results?

I don't need to shield because I use EMGs which are active and shielded inside the pickup.

The output is so hot there is no noise

But keep the shielding in! The shielding will make a difference when you shield the whole thing.

Its like building a boat with a giant hole in the middle, fill the hole - put shielding on the back of the pickguard
