jagmaster scale lengths. .

i was just talking to someone about his jagmaster, and he claims that it is 24 inch scale length, but the serial number starts CY04, so surely it was made in 2004 and therefore 25.5 inch scale length?

am i right or wrong?

(also if it was 25.5, could i replace it with a telecaster neck or would it not fit?)

I don't know the exact years but here:

96 Jagmaster = Real 24" scale

02 Jagmaster = 25.5 scale

current one = comes with 24" scale but can be replaced with 25.5" due to a bit of wizardry.

Just remember that tele necks have different shaped neck pockets - tele neck butts are square and strat neck butts are round so you won't be able to get a tele neck in there without routing

so what about a jaguar neck? or a mustang neck?

a jaguar or mustang neck (or jagstang) will only fit the first issues

Do you really hate the Jagmaster neck that much? Or do you just want it to say 'Fender' on the headstock?

nah i just want a decent neck. . i have bad experiances with squire necks. . .if i like it ill keep it.. but i can put a strat neck on it on any of the non-vista ones? including the 24 inch scale one?

A strat neck would fit. But there is nothing wrong with the Jagmaster necks, and I hope yours will be the same way 😀

Yes,

Strat necks fit on any of the non vista ones, even the new 24" scale ones.

But the necks on vista jagmasters are EXACTLY the same as put on japanese mustangs, jaguars and jagstangs at the time so I highly reccomend trying my JS. I'll bring it in someday....

Is it true that the ones made from 2002-2005 are made of Alder??? I've wanted a Jagmaster for a while but want to refinish it w/ Nitro so that it will relic naturally but would never do that w/ basswood.

Not sure about the Gen II, but the current Gen III are alder.

I know somebody on offset selling a half-stripped jagmaster which I was going to get.

He hasn't got a price up though
