lefty jagstang

since finding a lefty jag-stang is almost impossible, and after getting laid off from my job recently, i figure maybe people here can give me some ideas. a tech at the local guitar center told me he could make me a jag-stang so long as i got the parts such as the electronics and such. what i was wondering is if anyone has any blueprints or other documents for jag-stangs to help make it. Preferably i was looking to make it to kurt's specs that were in the one he used.

i figure this is the best way to go since it can be paid for over time whereas buying a jagstang left handed would cost alot more in one go, unless of course someone has a left handed jagstang cheap.

What do you mean short neck INSTEAD of the mustang neck? Mustang necks are short.

the standard necks on reissues are still 24'', im talking about the 22.75'' necks. the only fender guitar to have it is the strat jr now.

Unless you send me a neck to work on, I can't build a body that will fit that neck.

I really wouldn't go for that scale if I were you. I'm small and bony and my fingers get cramped on the 18th fret. Also you'll have tons of buzz and your midrange will go out the window

why the hell would you want it that smalll? it would be so cramped. . like 24" can be nice feel at times but 22 whatever? thats just wayy to small seriouslly. . .

He's referring to a duo-sonic type neck which is 22.5" scale. Some people probably like this length a lot, I personally prefer 24" scale over any other scale length, but if this guy's used to his dad's vintage duo or sumthin then a 22.5 neck wouldn't be a bad idea (Although vintage duos came with 24's as well, so you might wanna double check first).

(PS 22.5 necks and 24 necks are interchangeable so you actually wouldn't have to mod a JS at all to accomodate a 22.5 neck)

Just good luck finding one of those necks. They must be pretty damn rare 😕

That's what I've read on this site quite a few times and I've never heard anything different elsewhere. Although I've never personally tried it so I'd say I'm like 90% sure. But, I think he's pretty set on having his guy do it.

Well to redman:

I need the measurement from the nut to the very bottom of the neck.

You need to get the neck first or I can't do the body to fit the 22.5 neck

part because i like the jagstang, part because me and a few buddies are gonna start a Nirvana cover band or atleast a band that will play Nirvana songs. as far as the neck goes, if the 24'' is easier then thats fine, it just cramps my hands now and then because i have a different style of play, though my mustang neck is more comfortable than my old strat copy was. about being used to a duo sonic, nah my dad never played guitar, the first guitar i had was a cheap denstone strat copy, then my esteban acoustic and now my mustang.

i do use the TOM thats on my mustang and it seems to keep it in tune pretty good, adds enough tension to rid the low e buzz so that would be good, and as far as the contours go, that doesnt much matter, but if it'll make it more comfy then sure.

Flip a righty?..

I had a choice when i bought mine it was either flip a lefty or just get the righty, went with the righty even tho it was a little more costly.

Infact I my friend still has the left handed one and I'm pretty sure he never uses it.
