DrPluto Hey guys...Got myself a Jag HH Special about 6 months ago...loving it more everyday...just wandering if you had any advice on cleaning up the chrome plates, and keeping them looking nice and shiny...apologies if this has been answered on the forum before...Are there any specific products you recommend or is there a cheap D.I.Y way that doesn't harm the chrome?Cheers in advance
jacksonjackass Welcome to the forums 😉I use a metal polish to keep it shiny, and clean it with a sponge and WD-40 if it gets nastyHow bad is yours?Pics?
foxyloxy one of my good mates just got a HH spe its VERY VERY nice, so congrats on that. what wrong with just some basic household sprays (as long as its not to strong) and a bit of hard work? it works for my guitars. welcome and i hope you stay 😁
DrPluto Cheers for the response and welcomes guys...Yeah...I think I'll just go for the DIY method...I was just unsure whether that was gonna effect the finish in a negative way...but thanks for putting my mind at rest...
foxyloxy like i said, as long as its not strong, you could even water it down a bit. also invest in some cd cleaners those soft fabrics kick ass. 😐
cartmanr0cks you can't damage the chrome, but my luthier told me not to use any wood polish (like pledge) to clean like the fretboard, or even just the body, cause it's got silicone's in it which will prevent you from ever having it refinished
foxyloxy oh rly? well there you go. i dont really see how that works but fair enough. *edit*what do you mean by polish?
cartmanr0cks well, you know, the stuff you'd use on your wooden furniture to clean/make it shine again. I figured I'd ask him what he thought of it, and he said the best thing you can use to clean your guitar is a warm, wet cloth

dogfayer Hi,This stuff does everything 😉I use it since very long, and lastly, on my Jag with nitro cellulosic varnish.
surfhenk I think it is best to use chrome polish like mothers or eagle one for the chrome, but the problem is that the polish stuff will get inbetween everything if you don't do it carefully.

Cheers in advanceThe best thing you can do to Jap chrome is replace it with AVRI chrome IMO! 😁 As for keeping it shiny, I just use a dry rag.Its much nicer looking. You will have to file the pickguard in a couple of spots to make it fit but its only minor.
