I wouldn't call it crap, but your intitled to your opinion. I just thought i'd put it up for people who are considering getting a jag. I've seen so many reviews where people say 'it won't handle distortion' and describing the sound as 'plinkey and tinny'. Of course it can sound like this, but can be used for many other styles. Basically just showing people how versatile a jag can be. Those sorts of reviews almost put me off getting a jag. Got nothing against surf music though. 😀

yeah, i've seen pictures of him with an AV jaguar before. not really into the stereophonics, but it's always nice to see someone using a jag. i think he has a mustang as well...

also, i agree dan. i see no reason why a jaguar shouldn't be just as good with distortion etc as a strat or tele. it's all about the whole surf tag people like to label jaguars with

I'm no fan of the Stereophonics either but i agree with your point Dan as well. If you click on my 'last band project' link that's a stock Jag being played with light distortion, also browsing through the 'favourate artists using jag/jazzers' thread you'll see many on there that use the Jag with distortion.

The microphonic feedback is really the only issue with distortion, other than that the Jag is well capable.

You can use a Jaguar for anything you can use a Strat or Tele for. Leo Fender was thoughtful enough to add a tone pot for those applications where you think it's too bright. Plus we all know you can make anything sound like anything else with the right amp and effects.
