Update: I got a vintage style pickguard today, and it seems to fit pretty darn well, even without modification. If I take off the "posts" that the bridge sits upon, then I can pop the pickguard right on there, and then screw the posts back in through the holes. I am thinking about routing out that area of the guard anyway with a Dremel, just so it doesn't look wierd, but if your bridge is low enough you might not even notice it.
