I bought a new sticker for my tele. I don't like stickers, but I like black and white even less 😀

I will tell the story of the neck pickup... 😉

Bought the guitar used, and about a week later I was mucking around with it at night, and I took the cover off the neck pickup, just to see what made it tick. When I pit the cover back on, the pickup didn't work anymore! I think maybe I cut a wire.

I had 30-day warranty so I took it back to the store, and instead of fixing the pickup, they dropped in the one that is there now. It's an odd-sounding thing. Rather loud, but with not much attack, and an overall thin sound. I use it when I want to get acoustic sounds.

I'm indifferent about the swap as I didn't really have the stock pickup long enought to get to know it...

Well, the reason is that I hate the black and white colour scheme. I mean I really truly despise it, to the point where I am willing to make it look stupid to give it some character.

My other guitars aren't desecrated like that at all.

When I get the money, eventually I will buy another tele in a different colour, swap the necks on them, and sell the black beast.

I have thought about it, but it would be cheaper and less trouble to simply get a refin.

I was gonna do it myself, but there are too many uncertainties about the process, and I am too lazy.

Wrong there, a replacement body from there is like $50 US and a refin would be like $100

also you'll have an old tele body you could sell someone

I've actually been quoted AUD $400 for refins!!!

I'm not really sure what the replacement bodies are made of, and if they would fit Squier specs. It's possible my beloved neck wouldn't fit, the pickguard almost certainly wouldn't. Still, it's worth reading up on, because I don't really LIKE plastering stickers all over the guitar. It's just to give it some kind of personality.

PGs are cheap there too.

It will fit the neck. And if it doesn't GFS are a pleasure to deal with

Yeah, I've had that amount quoted to me twice. Nitro finish (which I don't need, but that's what they use).

I'm looking into it now. GFS seem to have a few cheap tele bodies. I will look at a new bridge at the same time...

Look at the bridge spacing.

Some of them are 10.5 mm per string and some are more. Get the right onne.

Measure the distance from the top to bottom string 😉

i've only gotten two things from gfs (pickups) but i can say that they arrived quickly, had huge leads, and were very high quality (with the current pickup, i can push the amp hard enough, and get close enough to the amp that the 3rd bridge on a TOM feeds back, but not the pickup)

great stuff, and they need our support so that they don't fall to the likes of guitar center.
