BobUrban I recently bought a 1967 Mustang (all original) and I am shocked at how quiet it is. Could those brass shielding plates be the secret to a quiet single coil guitar, and if so, why aren't they used anymore? I have a newer Strat that I've shielded completely with copper shielding tape and it is noisier than the Mustang by far.
jacksonjackass You sure its brass? Its usually copper. They took out shielding to save money 🙄Metal is expensive these days so they just use conductive paint which is crap 😕
jacksonjackass The reason your strat's noisy is probably because you haven't done the pickguard with a bit of foil 😉
