By reputation alone I heard Lindy Fralin is a famous boutique pickup maker and somewhat of a legend. The price listed on his website is not bad. You expect to pay the same price around $75 for a Dimarzio or Seymour Duncan.
I am seriously planning to build a Mustang guitar project. Competition Lake Placid Blue with matching headstock. Yeah I know Kurt Cobain. I'm a big fan he's the guy who inspired me to play guitar and start a band with my friends. Its crazy how expensive Fender is charging for this supposedly starter guitar. Both for the US and Japan reissues. I won't be able to afford that.
I'll get the neck and body from Warmoth and I think the Paint Job costs to much. I am still undecided with the pickups. Right now I am leaning towards single coils for a more authentic sound.
For a guy who never played or seen a Fender Mustang in person! I don't know which pickups should I get for a Neck and Bridge. Any advice or opinions?
On my style of playing I like a hot bridge pickup. It mostly stays there, maybe if I upgrade the Neck and Middle i'll use it more. 😆 On my '93 MIJ Fender Fat Strat. I had a PRS Dragon Treble. On my other '93 US American Standard Strat I left it stock with single coils for now. Although I wish all the pups have more output. My fav. guitar btw is the Fat Strat.
