Classic Player Jag - Trem arm position

I recently bought a Classic Player Jaguar Special, and I'm having trouble with the trem arm. When I screw it all the way in, its position is above the strings, rather than below them as it's supposed to be. The only options seem to be to play without it, screw it in and have it blocking the strings, or let it swing freely...none of which seem very appealing to me. All the photos I see of other Classic Player Jags have the arm resting where it's supposed to be, below the strings. Is there something I'm supposed to do to adjust this?

Also, I apologize if this is a silly question. This guitar's my first electric, and I don't know any other guitar owners. Thanks to anyone who can help.

I actually don't have a camera, but I made this picture to show what I mean. Once the arm is screwed in, it stops in that position. It can't be screwed in any tighter, so I'm not sure what to do.

i've never actually played with the whammy bar in a jag. . so i don;t exactly know how it works, but im assuming its a screw in whammy bar like a strat.

where you put the tremolo in (i.e which way it is pointing) will affect where it stops, if you experiment where you start srewing in the bar, you should find that it will come to you desired place.

however, this may not be how a jag bar works and im sory for not knowing and having one. . but from what you;ve said i assume im right.

Unfortunately, no.

It is a screw in, yes, but its thread always begins "screwing in" at the same point, i.e. you can start screwing the whammy bar in with, for example, the knob/handle pointing away from you instead of toward you, but the thread of the bar still enters the thread of the hole it goes in at the same point of rotation, and you still end up with a whammy bar that blocks the strings and pickups. Needless to say, I've tried what you suggested before...many times. ☹

i see your problem. . but unless the tube thing which the thread is in can be turned around or something i see no solution.. i recommend u take it back to the shop..

I thought most of the people on this part of the forum would be Jaguar or Jazzmaster scholars...or people who owned them, anyway. lol/sigh. 😆

Anyway, it's too late to return the guitar, which I otherwise love, but I might be able to get a different tremolo arm or have mine adjusted somehow, I suppose. From what I'm reading on other forums, this seems to be a common issue with all guitars that feature screw-in tremolo arms. Thanks anyway, guys.

The bushing that the arm screws into (provided that the CC jag trem is otherwise built the same way as regular jag's) is, if you lift the trem assembly out of the body, on a screw thread itself. You should be able to turn it slightly from underneath with a wrench, although don't full on force it 'cause you may end up damaging it. I had to do something similar with my CIJ Jag's trem to convert the arm to an American one.

Thats definitly not right... Check out this site it may help out. Its been awhile since I've seen the back side of a jag/jazz tremolo but it seems you can adjust the nut on the backside.
