Orange amps

so yesterday i was watching t.v with my grandparents and some financial commercial was on, long story short i saw they were playing an orange and said "i cant believe that amps going to waste on that" so long story shorter it looks like i might be getting one for my 18th birthday!

and my question is, of all you orange fans which amp would you suggest for a nice crunchy breakup without blowing the roof off like my twin?

they have some higher priced 15 watters, or you could get an ad5 or tiny terror combo.

yeah foxy i've been looking for one of those ad140's for teh omarz

but i'm leaning toward an ad30 or the rockerverb 50, and most likely wont be getting the combo.

I've played a friends orange rockerverb 50 combo live a few times. It's really nice. Not good break up at lower volumes tho but really nice.

What volume levels are you looking to get the break up at though? 30 watts is alot for a valve/tube amp when it comes to getting break up if you're talking bedroom levels.

Oh and I would be stupid if I didn't say...BUY MY AD5

this would be gigging level, i can't stand playing quietly. i'd more likely just not play if i cant be loud, yeah i'm a primadonna. and thats why the 50 seemed like a good one. half the output of my twin ,which i can get a little bit of break around 3 or 4, so it would go sooner than that i'm hoping

So you want breakup on the clean channel of an Orange 😲 WHEN YOU HAVE SUCH A GOOD DISTORTION CHANNEL!!

I would beware of the Rockerverb 50 if u just want to break up the clean channel because it will need to be maxed out to break up ( i know from experiance testing to find out if i could break up the clean) Even on 10 with a humbucker equipped guitar its still a slight crunch.

However the distortion channel on the rockerverb 50 is #### amazingly epic and only gets better as you turn it up! I would say get a rockerverb 50 and forget the idea of diming the clean channel.

However if you want to a clean channel overdrive I would go for the rocker 30 (which has no reverb tank) which you may be able to break up, I don't know much about the rocker 30 but it should be basically the same as the Rockerverb 50 just with less output.

Also the AD5, Tiny Terror Combo or head as well as all the lower wattage Orange's are great choices for studio work as well as live if you mic them.

Oh so your gonna use the distortion channel on the RV50, then you should have no problem at all! The RV50's distortion is just beautiful really full and lush with a ton of sustain! I actually stopped using my distortion pedals when I got my RV50 cause they were useless as the amps distortion was so much better then any of them.

The RV50 also has an amazing reverb too I might add real springs in the combo and celestion vintage 30's make the RV 2X12 and amazing Combo, I'd definitely buy a combo if you dont have a celestion equipped 4x12.

The reverb in the RV50 Combo is an Accutronics 3 spring reverb tank, its a great small compact tank with 3 springs inside which creates the reverberation of a hall or other reverbs. The Accutronics also hold the claim as "the original real spring reverb" they have a long history with Hammond Organs, and were used famously in the original Fender Twins (which used the type 4). So gone are the days of digital reverb and you begin using a real reverb tank!

I got this from the Accutronics website, it sums up just how there reverb tank works so you can see that your signal is actually really being reverbarated through the springs.

"Spring Reverberation units use a combination of electromagnetic and mechanical elements to simulate paths of delayed sound. an audio signal drives the COIL of the INPUT TRANSDUCER, which applies a twisting force to miniature cylindrical MAGNETS attached to a set of precision stainless steel TRANSMISSION SPRINGS. The twisting motion travels as a wave impulse down the length of the springs until it is rebounded by the OUTPUT TRANSDUCER, which also uses magnetic components to generate a delayed output signal"

I have a rocker verb and that will probably blow your house to pieces along with your twin. I would say go for a tiny combo like a crush30 or a AD30tc combo. If you want the whole half stack thing I'd say the tiny terror is your best bet regardless. It's not too much and it's not too little for home use.
