Sharpened saddles/breaking strings misery

Hi there, my second-hand Mustang I've had since last year has recently started snapping new-ish strings, always at the bridge. The string height/intonation appears to be OK to me (though I am a bit of an ignoramus in this department), so I wondered if it was a case of sharpened saddles - there are some grooves in the lower strings, which are the ones that keep breaking. Is this what shapened saddles look like. I am loathe to replace the saddles as I am not skilled in replacing these things, so I was after some advice. Is sanding them down recommendable or would you strongly advise against this?

I really don't want to take my guitar in for a "set up" over this and be charged

The saddles on my Mustang are cylindrical, so I am confused about the "Sharpened" idea. Now there may be a burr or issue with the saddle. Check for anythng in the saddle groove (like anything sharp or corrosion). If there is (and it were me), I would VERY gently and carefully try to remove it using a machinist's stone and fine steel wool. For now, try slipping a small piece of paper between the string and saddle (just big enough to keep it off the saddle and in the groove, but not big enough to cause a buzz), then bring up to tune. You may lose some sustain, but it should stop the breakage until you can afford to get it setup properly.

you could order the jap reissue bridge from fender and just replace the saddles to see if it works.
