We all know the problem with these things. Bassy, muddy, quiet, and often unusable. Such is the case with my new tele. The bridge pickup sounds wonderful, but the neck pickup gives me nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am basically looking for a second lead pickup. I have what seems to be a cheap strat bridge pickup in the neck position of my other tele, and I quite like it. Thin, clear, and snappy, and similar in volume to the bridge pickup.
Basically, versatility is what I am after. I was thinking of a hotrail of some kind, but am unsure. Buying pickups unheard goes against my instincts.
I also want to avoid routing if possible.
