Damn you and your jagmaster talk!

back i nthe day i wanted to talk about jagmasters loads and nobody was interested! I even demanded several times, half heartedly, to have the cyclone thread replaced with a jagmaster thread, BUT NOBODY LISTENED! and now several years later I return and everynoe is saying jagmaster this and jagmaster that....damn! I was way before my time! ...... yeah Im drunk 😀 hello to those, if any, that remember me 😀

Unfortunately I'm too new here to know about this JagMaster neglect, but HEY, lets not dwell in the past.

I have a J-M and I love it. Not a Vista,(sigh...) but a JagMaster nontheless.

The whole site should be called Jag-Master.com IMO but any hoo, lets talk J-M. Re ignite some old threads, WHATEVER, anything that stops people talkin about Strats an Les Pauls.

Strats are gay.

Im good im good, yeah its been a while! I've had one or two fleeting attempts to rejoin but ended up being kept busy, but Im gonna make the effort! moved house a couple times, got my degree, got me a permanant teaching job sorted so things are pretty good, only down side was the band at uni (curmudgeon), btw not a nirvana inspired name but taken from John Peels obituary in the times (i think it was the times) in which the title was 'John Peel a wonderful curmudgeon' and I always wanted to make music that he'd listen to and say 'your alright', so we became curmudgeon. Anyhow, three years and three drummers later (god that got annoying, changing drummers! so damn unreliable!) we called it a day, and went our seperate ways, the last drummer was just the final straw! Ah well! So have I missed anything? the place seems much calmer nowadays!

Both JS.com and SS.org are good websites in my opinion, I registered for short scale, mostly because I like all the shortscale guitars in Fender's Lineup, and I signed up here because I loved teh kurtdz.

I was just surfing at Squier.com website awhile ago and I stumbled upon the Jagmaster.

I knew nothing about the Jagmaster so I did some googling. Its kind of funny the Jagmaster was born out of Kurt Cobain's Jaguar mod. So Fender actually did a shameless copy. Just change it with a Strat tremolo there.

I had the chance back '95 or '96 to buy a 60's vintage Jaguar but returned it since I didn't like it. It was repainted and the tremolo isn't working right. So I returned it and got his '93 American Standard Stratocaster instead which was in perfect like new condition. I remember the Jaguar price was PhP 10,000 (US $200) and paid for the Strat US $400. The currency conversion rate are based on todays exchange rate.

The problem with Jagmaster is Fender hardly do any advertising. They only do promotions when they release a new Artist model. When I first saw Kurt with a Jaguar the humbucker and 3 way switch wasn't there yet. If I did I would have routed the vintage jag to fit humbuckers and tremolo fixed. Making it a more proper modern guitar and not the surf style classic the Ventures made popular.

The Sonic Youth signature Jazzmaster is different from the Jagmaster, but similar in some ways. They both have humbuckers and a 3 way switch. So this got me interested with the guitar today.

Thurston Moore once said "Before the Guns and #### Roses became popular you can get a Les Paul for like 50 bucks." You can say the same thing with the Mustang and Kurt Cobain. A '65 Mustang RI and '73 MIJ Competition Mustang RI would cost US $1,000. Plus Fender licensing restrictions you could only get the competition mustang in japan.

Instead of ranting about the Jagmaster. Consider yourself lucky if you own one today. You could still buy a used Vista Jagmaster or Squier Jagmaster at a reasonable price. I just saw it on sale at guitarcenter.com for just $280 bucks.

I vote that a section for Jag-master be added on the Forum. It really deserves a spot.

I do believe the Jag-Master is allowed in the Jazzmaster and Jaguar Section, it has features of both, It has the ability to use the Jazzmaster's 25.5 inch scale and has the Jaguars 24 inch scale(Albeit it's a conversion) and fender does market a jaguar with the humbuckers, and the sonic youth Jazzmasters are lacking the Rythm Circuit, so esentially it's a Jazzmaster/Jaguar Hybrid. But that's why the name Jag-master appears.

There was a Jagmaster website/forum some years ago, but it was full of retards name calling each other in every post and closed.

I agree the Jagmaster deserves more respect, its a guitar in its own right. But until it says 'Fender' on the headstock and gets used by some famous cool players it will always be 'the poor mans Jaguar'. Everyone likes to think they graduate to a Fender model but the truth is, half of them would do better sticking with the Jagmaster.

@ TheJagmaster- Yeah, its much quieter dude. Most of the members went to/formed shortscale. Some still hang around both websites (like me) but most regular posters here are newer.

i have a vista jag 😁 its easily as good as most fenders i played... i love the neck

and i remember the jagmaster site, never posted there but it was indeed full of idiots

It's been at the luthier for close to two months. Last time I spoke to him he said "sometime next week"

But I sure am happy I didn't sell it when I was going to.

back on topic I only have experience with one of the new Jagmasters that I played in a music shop a couple years back... I remember I liked the neck but didn't care to much for the pups... so far that is my opinion (ill founded it may be) of Jagmasters good neck, but not the best pups... although on my next trip to a music store I'll try another Jagmaster to either reaffirm or change my opinion (or develop an opinion on the vistas which I have absolutely no exp with)

Guitars are feminine therefore your Strat is straight. If a bass tried to hit on you, then it'd be gay... BTW what exactly was your Strat doing that leads you to believe it was trying to hit on you?
