Well worth the money IMO. There is a very slight upper-mid boost (very slight) as well as some treble boost w/controls at midnight. I like some lower mid grunt, and a bit of bass boost, so i rolled the the treble down to about 10 o'clock, and the bass up to 3 o'clock, which got me what i was looking for. The rhythm channel goes from clean to a slight crunch. Most of the time, I had the gain cranked, and the volume at around 8 o'clock, which still gave a fair bit of boost. I had my amp at the edge, and this took it just over, so i could go from clean to crunch w/picking. On the lead channel, you have plenty of gain, more than i had ever gotten out of my amps w/out effects. I wouldn't use this pedal to get all of my gain out of, because it does have that somewhat fake sounding preamp distortion, but as an overdrive it is amazing. I've heard far worse dirt come out of amp's preamps (laney's, some riveras, my bassman, etc). When the amp is pushed hard enough that you are just starting to get some power amp distortion, this pedal is amazing, it's the best distorted sound I've ever heard (excluding recordings). The lead channel has a very meaty tone to it, which is what I was going for. Relative to the lead channel, the rhythm channel is sweeter, but still meatier than the bypassed tone. My favorite setting on the lead channel was gain at 3 o'clock, volume just below 9, which gave plenty of gain, and a big boost, certainly enough gain for most occasions. Again, like I said, this pedal will give you more boost than you will ever need.
I didn't spend very much time fiddling with the transparent OD (timmy copy), but found some settings that worked very well for me. This pedal requires some distortion from the amp to sound good, but gives a huge boost, has a mild amount of gain, and a wide range of tones from the 2 band eq. most of the time, i had the gain at midnight, volume at about 10 o'clock, bass cranked, and treble at about 9. This warmed up my tone a bit, gave me some distortion, and a large boost.

guitar (p90 tele/jagHH) -> MI Audio Boost 'n' Buff -> Russian Muff -> Dano OD -> Twin Tube Blue -> DD7 -> Ampeg j12t + channel strapped Bassman 10
My goal with these pedals was to get all of the distortion I need, and to be able to get all of my sounds w/ my feet, and I succeeded. I usually use the dd7 as a looper, so the bassman is running a clean rhythm track, and the ampeg is the lead. Using it like this, my bypassed tone is clean and sparkly w/ some dirt if i really dig in. Then, either the rhythm channel of the Blue or the Boost 'n' Buff takes my to crunch (the former beefy, the latter trebly) the blue's lead channel or the timmy can push it over the edge, with the timmy being more biting, and less 'grainy' if that makes sense, and the muff can give me all the fuzz I need. Combining the pedals gives more gain than anyone could ever need (it makes the dimarzio and GFS squeal).
By the way, the Transparent OD isn't just based off the timmy, every value is the same.
Also, the dimarzio is slightly more microphonic than the GFS.
If I had to choose one dirt pedal right now, it would be the blue.
