Jaguar HH coil-splitting?

i'm wanting to change the wiring in my jag hh to include coil-splitting, i found a thread the other day that had a really good diagram explaining how to do this but i can't seem to find it now ☹

if anyone has a good diagram will you please put it up for me.

also i've seen these kurt cobain jags with two tone pots, wot is the second tone pot used for....and could i please be told how to wire one in? 😁

you cant install coil splits w/the stock pups. you need to either have them modified or get new ones.

as far as i know, which really isn't very far, the Kurt Cobain jaguar has 2 volumes and 1 tone pot, not the other way around. One volume for each pick-up.

that sounds interesting two volume pots, i recon that should be easy enuff to figure out.

No problem, don't have any wiring diagrams, but I've heard that KC's jaguar is basically wired like a Les Paul, but instead of a tone knob for each pu, they share one. And I'm sure there are enought LP diagrams floating around.

i went to see the tech guy at my local guitar shop today and had a chat bout wot stuff i need doing and he recons he can do the coil splitting using the off positions of the pickup selectors and instead of putting another volume pot in there I've convinced him to try and connect the rhythm sections volume control to the lead circuit as well, that way i get volume control for each pickup without p*$$*ng around drilling the control plate. fingers crossed all will go to plan 😀

Yes, you can use the stock switches, you'll just loose the OFF position, that's all.

A jaguar has two tones/two volumes and four switches, you can keep it looking 100% stock and achieve what you want (coil splitting/sperate controls) easily enough.

Thats wot i was hoping for, i'll be taking it in to be done tomorrow/today(it's gone 12:00) jus hope it gets done quick as my telecaster is in pieces at the mo and i don't like not being able to play. Also your post in the "yall jag pic's" thread has reminded me to get sum copper shielding to, cos although it looks ace my jag has quite a hum....and sometimes picks up a french radio station.

had a think today and decided to put 2 3way toggle switches in instead of the two on off's for pups that way i can have humbucker,coils split and keep the off selection 😁

finally got jag back from the shop & basically looks like i'm gonna have to rewire it all again myself!

the rhythm/lead switch has been used as a kill switch, the other 3 switches make little sense as half of the settings don't change the sound at all, the volume now seems to turn half way up then start turning down again and most puzzling of all the rhythm volume is now a volume control for the fist volume control in a spinal tap this one goes to 11 style!!!

seems like all he's really done thats productive is restring and intonate it (which to be fair he has done correctly) also i don't think it's grounded properly any more as it keeps making like a banging/crackeling sorta noise which stops when i touch the metal work or strings but is frikkin awfull for the gaps between chords wen i have to take my hands of the strings and obviously any open strings.

any thoughts on wot to do or were to start peeps?

You can use the rhythm volume/tone pots for a split and the on/off switch as a kill switch, this is how the classic players HH is wired. I have the diagram if you need it but its not real clear as its a ####y MIM diagram which aren't as high quality as the US fender diagrams.

thanx man that would be awesome 😀. i think im gonna move the jack plug onto the side like a tele and use the extra hole in the plate to put another volume pot in. the rest of it i recon i'm jus gonna put bk to standard apart from the coil splitting which i've got a diagram for,i may drill an extra hole for another tone pot, depends on how motivated i feel wen i get round to it, the worst bit at the moment iz the crackeling/ buzzing/ popping noise i think the best approach for fixing that iz copper sheilding, but with christmas coming up and me having a few projects on it's not really a good time for me to be spending a lot of money. just want to fix the ballz up that the guy at the shop has made of it, so it sounds as good as it looks.still it's sorta funny in a bizare way, the volume control for the volume control iz my fav bit...i recon the guy was stoned or drunk or somethin.
