Okay, I play a lot of music in drop D and drop C tuning, which generally means I need heavier gauge (.11-.58 or heavier) strings. The problem is, drop C tends to lose that rich ringing that I love on the higher strings...

Any way, I was screwing around today when I came up with this:

The C+G forms a fifth, the D+A forms a fifth, the A+E forms a fifth, the E+e is a paired octave (obviously), The C+D forms a major third, the G+A forms another major third, and all together you can get these incredibly textured ringing chords without too much work!

if C+D = major second (d is the major second of C)

G+A = major second (A is the major second of G)

typo. g is the minor 7th of A. musictheory.net is how i know the names for all the notes/chords w/in a scale (yes, every single note within a traditional scale has a specific name)

Plus I don't understand what you're saying was a typo. G is the minor 7th of A and A is the Major 2nd of G. Where was the typo?

There you go 😁 But if you detune the B string so far, wouldn't that make it really floppy? or is that just wound strings? Dunno, never tried it before.
