Is this original????-1977 Stang...

Hey I've had my 1977 Mustang for a couple of months now and I'm still unsure whether the bridge is original... It's a jazzmaster/jaguar bridge rather than the normal mustang one. Did Fender ever ship mustangs with this type of bridge? Also, I heard that the floating bridge is meant to rock backwards and forwards but mine doesn't... It actually fits in the holes quite tightly but there's no tape or anything and when I bought a replacement mustang bridge it didn't quite fit in the post holes length ways even though the posts on the new bridge were smaller in diameter than the original bridge... hmmm...

i think you have jaguar saddles.

could be the bridge to, 'cause jaguar bridges don't rock.(the guitar does!) lol

can you raise or lower the bridge?

did you take the bridge off?

does it have long body post?

btw mine is a '77 all original to in sunburst.

but you volume pot looks different

Thats a jag bridge. Someone must have had a jag and that mustang, hated the jag bridge and swapped it out at some stage

The same thing happened to me when I purchased my comp stang. I thought fender used jag/jazz bridges on some of their mustangs. Then I learned alot of people prefer the mustang bridge over a tuno-matic one so it must have gotten swapped at some point in it's life.

Jaguar bridges DO rock back and forth and its a major part of the jazzmaster bridge/tremolo system. Its how Leo designed it...to rock.

If your jaguar bridge doesn't rock then its either got tape around it, someone has messed with it or some other reason because brand new AVRI and CIJ and vintage jaguar/jazzmaster bridges rock back and forth!
