You need to use electrical tape or similar to keep the TOM centered in the fender thimbles because if you don't you will never intonate correctly. If the TOM is in the thimbles but pushed forward or backwards there will be some strings that wont intonate because even when a TOM is centered intonation on Low E (sometimes the D and high E too) and G come very close to not being intonated because the saddles wont go back far enough. If you use the tape you will get it intonated, if you dont you wont more than likely get all 6 strings intonated.
Plus the tape keeps the Gotog Nashville thimbles nice and tight in the fender thimbles.
You will want the Gotoh Nashville TOM for this project to actually make it work like it should.
The Gotoh Nashville TOM I am referring to is the ones GPR sell so familiarize yourself with them so you dont buy the old style one with no thimbles but threaded posts.
