Does any one know how to make a 20 watt First act amp sound good or is it a lost cause?

You could try switching out the speaker, but I'd say it's pretty much a lost cause.

thats what i was thinking i might switch it with some old stereo speaker or just use it for the talent show and jam my guitar thru it and throw it across the gym floor

Its a lost cause IMO.

There are some good Solid state amps.

Behringer, roland, line6 are just few.

You sound like you're in the market for a tube amp. Here are some I'd suggest:

Blackheart

Blackstar HT-5

Epiphone valve junior

Fender champ

Orange AD5

There are loads of other amps too, but those are just off the top of my head

Also, please don't destroy your amp. Better making $10 out of it than wasting it.

i realy like mesa-boogie and orange but havent been able to find one any ideas of where i can find one. also i cant sell it its falling apart not litteraly but its not worth buying you have to jiggle the guitar cord to get the amp to work the input has a washer holding it in and the back of it has been taken off so many times it's not funny the back plate has scratches all over the leather it's missing a few screws and I hot wired the plug in cord to stay in because it kept falling out so now it's made in.

mesa boogies arent great for teh kurtzzz. . .orange are good for more rocky crunch imo

i wld recommend a fender champ if u have ur ds-1 . ... or something similar

Here's a thought:

Don't buy a jagstang, modify an existing guitar with a cheap hotrails copy from guitarfetish.com and then instead spend the money on getting your guitar proffessionally set up and getting an amp.

Getting a new guitar will improve your tone by 20%. A good new amp can make your tone twice as good

have you ever heard a mesa/boogie overdrive amp they are bad ass but came out in the early 80's and are extremley hard to find.and all my guitars are cheap $100 $200 dollar guitars i dont want to mod a really cheap guitar that i could accsedintaley brake cause i strumm really ####in hard.

yeah but there EXTREMLEY hard to find i saw one that was old and dusty in a guitar store in nashville but it was $1,000 and i definatley cant afford it and ive tried to find one ever since

i think that was it's name it was overdrive or power amp something like that but still i cant find one and it depresses me

i found a peavey transtube bandit 112 about 10 years ago at a shop in ohio, bought it for like 200 bucks, had it for a few years and then sold it, but i know you can still score them for around 250.00 or so second hand, and they are fairly common.

and it may suck but depending on your area this winter, grab a shovel and make some cash.

i know i have done that stuff when i was really young to try and afford better stuff.

I really don't think you can break a guitar by using it. Change your playing technique. If you strum stupidly hard, you'll get loads of buzz and will have terrible sound.

Just mod a cheap guitar with new pickups and you can't go wrong

thats what i was thinking but it's made cheap the strat is my main guitar niow and i strum hard enough i break thin strings so i use heavy strings now cause i kept breakuing them and i saw a marshall head in a pawn shop for $50 bucks and they said it worked wether it's true i dont no but it looked like it was in good condition.

What marshall head? And if you get a head, you need to run it through decent speakers.

But you really should not strum so hard. You just get buzz, broken strings and horrible noise

I love the Fall of Troy, but they're Progressive, or Progressive Post-Hardcore, and not teh metalz.
