I just picked up a 96 Fiesta Red Jagstang and Im ready to tear into it. I play a Grunge/Post-grunge type music. I am going to replace the humbucker, and have been looking at Seymour Duncans but dont know what to choose. I need something with a good distorted sound for rhythms but also hot enough for leads to cut through the noise and stand out. Im looking at Duncan's '59 and Sh-4 but dont know which is going to give me the sound i desire. The pots also need replacing so any suggestions with pups and pots would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest either a Trembucker, as many people seem to like these, or something from GuitarFetish, as they have a huge selection at more than fair pricing.

Um, trembucker refers to the pole spacing, not the actual model of pick-up itself... To just be more elaborate, whichever pickup model you do happen to settle on, try to get a trembucker (which is also called F-spaced) version to help it line up a bit better w/ the string path...

Yeah, but if you do, then you have to file the pickguard, plus the pickup is angled anyway which sort of cancels out the fact the poles line up better.

I'm sort of tired of this whole F vs. G spaced BS. Most of the people that do these sort of mods are just kurt kids (not to the extent of 'kurdt cobain') who want to sound more like kurt. Someone needs to start a topic on this soon and get it stickied. I might do it tomorrow.
