Thanks Luke. It truly is a good-looking guitar, and the pics really do not do justice to how great it looks.
As for what I would get if I could not find a Cyclone... Our track 7 from 'Goo' loving friend below sums up my plan B. I would try to get a Duo since they are readily available online. Could get one fully shipped for about AUD$400.
But I really would prefer the Cyclone.
You might remeber I almost got one back in February, but it fell through. Billy Hyde still have them listed on the website, and it's possible that the one that slipped through my fingers was the last one they had in storage, I will ask them again, and see if they can check and double check.
If I got one (big if), I would swap out the stock pickups and put a Tex Mex in the neck, and an Atomic Humbucker in the bridge. They were the pickups used in the original Fender Cyclone 😀
It is a shame, but I am just not willing to sink more money into it. My expenditure so far has been very good, and I don't want to keep going with no guarantee of results. As far as this guitar goes, I'm just getting out while the gettin's good. I haven't given up on strats. The lucky thing is that they are common as muck, and given I managed to put this one together for a good price, I've no doubt I will try again at some point.
My plan for getting a Cyclone, since they don't pop up on ebay very often, is to save up a sum of cash (say USD$400) and then just wait for one to pop up that will ship to Australia. I have a couple of strategys in place. But I will try the music shop first.
