anyone have any favourite software they use?

I'm currently using a version of Steinberg Wavelab. I find it does what I need it to.

for some reason i didnt really wanna put steinberg as a catagory, but then i guess thats what cakewalk is, go ahead and use the cubase box if you so please

Okay, see I really haven't used a lot for digital audio, etc. So, this is really the only program I know of extensively.

its worth trying a few others out if you can, even if you think wavelab does everything you need. I didnt realise how just bad cubase was with audio editing until I'd used pro tools.

i havent really used it, but what ive seen of logic has been wicked. some well good features.

i've been using Audacity, running under linux. quite basic, which suits me i suppose

I use ProTools, have done since the early days of SoundTools. Used to use Cubase for MIDI but I can't be bothered with that stuff any more, music got too nerdy, prefer recording people playing things in a room using microphones, old fashioned I know...I'm a new age luddite 😕

i've used logic, protools and cubase. never got on with any of them. i've also used demos of various other things. i totally gave up on using computers for recording and stuck to my old reel to reel. i never got the hang of using midi anyway so it hasn't bothered me.

I started out using Cubase, then went onto Pro Tools.

A few years a ago a friend convinced me to try Logic, since then, it's pretty much all I use.

i use acid pro, audacity and cooledit but i use them for makeing beats hip hop style. but dont let that put you off 😆 they are all good programs any way.

Myself and Gareth in Sell Crazy (we do the tracking and mixing/producing together) both use Cakewalk Sonar 3 Studio Edition. I really like it, as Gregster says it's really easy to learn and very flexible, if you score some of the better free plugins lying around you're set. I'm thinking of getting the upgrade to Sonar 5 Studio seeing as it's only

I use acid pro as well.

I have used cakewalk in the past and really like it.

I've been using Personal Composer since 86. And earned the first MIDI certificate in the west with it in 88. (and I'm not a musician) I also use the block sequencer program for my Roland S-550s sampler. I've had cake walk as a software perk in a synth package and it wasn't any good to me. (shotgun fodder !)

I haven't seen a program that comes close to Personal Composer yet. (But there's likely one out there.) MIDI, manuscript, tab, lyrics, written comments, any staff & notation you can think of its all there. At first its really intense but you'll be glad it has all you've wanted and way more. Also the programs been around since 83. That's staying power and a damn good program.
