Best value SG/gibson copys.

i am going to get a SG as my next guitar. so i have been researching what would be the best i know some lawsuits can be good but i also know they can be a bit hit and miss (thats if you can find one).

i have come down to 2 choices, the GFS SG kit.

or the "vintage" VS6- these are really good for the price (judging by the less paul i have)

550Aus would be my max budget. what do you guys think? any more recommendation?

i tried one of those Sgs out a while ago, theyre pretty damned good 😀

i sure as heck dont think i am going to find one for better value, and its a lot less effort than building the GFS one. but i would want to put some hotter PU's in it (or at least in the neck).

i personally like the vintage a lot, plays really well

3 things putting me off buying one.

1. cant find any in Aus.

2. unsymmetrical horns

3. no pickup covers/

as for the other two

1. i have no idea about importing or anything involving australia

2. i believe all sg's are not symmetrical, the left horn is always slightly taller from what i've seen

the tanglewood my friend has has pickup covers and is symetrical. . im sure of it

but in all seriousness. . . get the vintage one.. or tokai

Being an SG owner I can tell you that even actual Gibsons aren't symmetrical, the upper horn is slightly, *slightly* longer.

If you're gonna go for teh cheapz... Epiphone? I've played a few Epi SG specials that were pretty reasonable machines.

I like the idea of the GFS SG kit though...
