Static help

Hello, I bought a blue comp mustang off ebay about 7 weeks ago for $500. the bridge pickup switch was damaged if freight. Today I got it fixed and it plays great except there is a ton of static even with both pickups turned off. can anyone tell me what the problem is.

sounds like a problem with the grounding, all metal things should be connected to the ground on the jack

It stopped the static but when I lay it in my computer chair it starts up again. my guess is that something in the chair is making it do that, it also happens when I get it close to my computer.

Thats cuz your amp is picking up some weird internet signals or something, mine does the same thing, also when i get a text

Top areas of interference in my room.....

- Flourescent Lamp - If I have that thing on, even my EMG equpped Jag-Stang can't avoid picking up even a little noise

- Computer Monitors - Surprisingly my LCD's do send some noise

- Computer Itself - The higher output the pickups, the easier I can pick up the hard drive, except for EMG's surprisingly

- Portable Air Conditioner - Causes spikes in my recordings when the compressor kicks in (BIG problem this summer),

- Fans - When I had fans, I had to shut them off when recording because anything with single coils would be picking up the electricity

- Close proximity to electrical cords - I get this sometimes if I have a 120v mains cable running to something on my desk.
