I've checked the wiring. It goes more like this:
Neck pickup on out of phase
neck pickup off
Neck pickup on in phase
Bridge pickup on in phase
Bridge pickup off
Bridge pickup on in phase
You can only be out of phase whilst having both pickups on, hence the 'pickups being out of phase with each other' 😉
The great thing about jagstangs are the wiring possibilities. You could make one switch a pickup selector and simultaneously, a cap selector and use the other switch as Out of phase/no effect/hum split OR you could put an onboard chorus or delay on or something!!
