Jagmaster Build - Complete!

Hi All

I bought myself a sunburst Jagmaster new earlier this year as my "everyday" guitar. I have been planning to do some work on this guitar for a while so I decided to get started...

Here is the guitar with my 97 Jag-Stang.

The plan

Replace the SD's with the following.

-DiMarzio PAF Pro for the neck

-DiMarzio Super Distortion for the bridge

I have ordered the pups today and was going to go with the creme colour but they had to back order them so I have gone with black. I think it should look pretty mean with the sunburst...

I have totally stripped the guitar and plan on replacing the machine heads and bridge as well as all the wiring, pots and jack.

If someone could help me with my bridge question that would be greatly appreciated. I'll also post some pics of the build as it takes place.

The six screw type is a Vintage Strat trem. If you buy the two fulcrum type you'll have to drill out for new posts and maybe(?) change the route slightly.

Most sellers will email you a spec. sheet with the exact dimensions.

you should get a black pickguard too, 'cuz sunburst with a black pg and black pups is always the coolest looking thing ever (my dad's bass has this color scheme and it's sick looking). Also, nice Jag-stang.

And you won't have to cut the pickguard to fit in a PAF.

Thanks 😉 I think I'll stick with the stock plate though... kind of like the old school look of it.

Checkout my dodgy mockup below of what I plan on doing to it along with the pickup change. This is my first ever guitar mods so I have decided to go a little crazy 😉

I plan on fitting a Jaguar master control plate (with Jaguar knobs) along with a Jaguar pickup control plate to replace the dodgy toggle switch. What do you guys think?

I'm going to have to research how to wire it up also so any advice you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. I would like to keep it simple and just have 3 settings bridge/bridge & neck/neck. How that will fit with the Jaguar controls I'm not sure?

You COULD get 4 conductor pickups and use the extra settings for coil splits. If I was using the jag control switch, that's probably what I would be doing.

I'm not sure, as it states it will not fit MIJ Strats, which if i remember rightly is about the same.

You may be best giving them a call or email.

I decided to leave the bridge for now as I couldn't get a definitive answer from the vendor.

I ordered the locking machine heads, Jaguar master control plate and pickup plate. I also ordered new 500k pots, .022 orange drop capacitor, new wiring and some shielding tape to cover the entire routed sections. Should I shield the back of the scratch plate and Jaguar control plate also?

Pickups have arrived!

Waiting on the other parts to arrive so I can get started on the wiring.

the jaguar control plate for the tone and volume pots will not fit over the routing with all screws in place, you will have to rely on two screws to hold it and fix a dummy screw- the one nearest the bridge, also the concave curve will not line up with the body curve, its not easy but it can be done

so hows the guitar coming along? are f-spaced pickups needed for the jagmaster?

Squier might not use f-spaced pickups because of the whole imperial/metric thing. I'm not sure though.
